Open Jazz Jam - Camp Concert
THURSDAY
15:00 at Huset
The final concert for Open Jazz Jam Summer Camp is a showcase of what the 6 ensembles have been working on for the whole week.
Every ensemble will have 10 minutes on the stage to show a bit of their process, some of the tunes they liked or maybe play some interesting exercises for the audience. All in order to give focus to the process and give you as the audience to see what they have been working with.
Expect this to be something else than a regular concert. The ensembles will be presenting the process of the week and not a final result or a "concert product". Bring your interested mindset and be surprised by all the young and talented musicians who dedicated 5 days to playing music together at Huset.
Free entrance, First Come, First Served
Poetry Slam Jam
THURSDAY
19:00 at Café Ordgeist
The concept in short: at the Poetry Slam Jam, 5 poetry slammers line up and read texts they have prepared.
Every evening there is a fixed jazz ensemble of 5 different instruments. The slammers draw lots and get to choose one musician each. The poetry slammer reads and the musician will follow the poet's words. The only cue word for the musician is the title of the poem.
The audience decides who sounds the most like a recorded spoken word song with marks from 0.0 to 10.0.
The winner is chosen after 2 rounds and they perform a 3rd poem - the so-called Slam Jam, where they have all 5 musicians behind them.
Curated by: Marcus Kendellen & Claus Nivaa.
This event is part of a 5 event series running throughout the summer - read more at Café Ordgeist
NB! Tickets only 30 kr.

Teis Semey
21:00 at El Mundo Aalborg
“Bad boy of Dutch Jazz”, Danish Guitarist Teis Semey has made a name for himself across Europe in the last few years. Mainly known for the Teis Semey Quintet, Semey has come to showcase a modern way of tackling the electric guitar: high amplitude, high precision, high energy and high sensitivity.
Semey has many sides: if with the punk avant-garde of the Teis Semey Quintet, the choral Midnight Mess or electro/acoustic Raw Fish, Semey’s storm-in-with-guns-blazing attitude to music is “charmingly nonchalant”, and ensures an immersive and wild listening experience.
The “rising star” (NRC) has six albums behind him, and there is no signs of slowing down. Having released ‘Crudo’ in April 2024, he is already releasing the next album of the Teis Semey Quintet in September ‘24.
Semey is an artist possessing both outlandish technical skills and deep musical sensitivity. His “... playing grabs you by the shoulders, and screams a story into your face. But a story with depth and nuance" - Jazzism.
Lineup:
Teis Semey - Guitar
Paolo de Jesus - Trumpet
Sophus Bech - Alto Sax
Jan Sedlak - Bass
Matias Fischer - Drums

SATURDAY
21:00 at El Mundo Aalborg
Viktorija Pilatovic is a lithuanian jazz vocalist and composer who shares her love for jazz music through her original music: poetic lyrics, modern, heart-wrenching chord progressions and virtuoso vocal performances.
Downbeat (UK, Oct-2019) “(...) truly international in intention and flavour. Pilatovic's vision comes through on her angular composition and arrangements juxtaposed with a fluid and reaching vocal style.”
Discópolis (Radio 3, RNE, Nov-2019) “Not only does she sing well, but she composes divinely in an unconventional way. There is a lot of wisdom here!”
Rarely does one encounter the extreme talent, intelligence and drive to compose, arrange and perform, as I have witnessed in the voice and musicianship of jazz vocalist Viktorija Pilatovic. -J.D. Walter (singer, USA)
Viktorija is one of the most talented musicians I have met in recent years, I think she is poised to write important pages in the history of this music. - Perico Sambeat (saxophonist and flutist, Spain)
